What is Cyberbullying? Cyberbullyng "involves the use of information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behavior by an individual or group, that is intended to harm others."
According to Britian an 18 year old girl was the first person in Britain to go to jail for posting threats on Facebook. Keeley Houghton, 18, of Malvern, Worcestershire, has been sentenced to three months in a young offenders' institution after she posted a message saying that she would kill Emily Moore. She pleaded guilty to harassment. On July 12, Houghton updated her status on Facebook to read: "Keeley is going to murder the bitch. She is an actress. What a f@#@#@# liberty. Emily F^#^head Moore." Moore, also 18, had been victimised by Houghton for four years, the court heard, and had previously suffered a physical assault as well as damage to her home. According to the early show a 15 year old girl was cyberbullied to death in Massachusetts. Officials in Massachusetts believe there's been another deadly case of cyber-bullying in the apparent suicide of 15-year-old Phoebe Prince of South Hadley, Mass. Prince moved last year to the area from Ireland. While making the transition to a new town and a new country, Prince, officials believe, became the target of intense cyber-bullying, which may have contributed to her apparent suicide. CBS News correspondent Whit Johnson reports Prince seemed to be well-adjusted and happy, but underneath, friends say, the 15-year-old freshman was tormented -- a victim of cyber-bullying. According to CBS Phoebe Prince was not the only girl to commit suicide from the cause of cyberbullying. In 2006, 13-year-old Megan Meier killed herself after being harassed on MySpace by a neighbor's mother, posing as a 16-year-old teenage boy. According to ABC news Nine Massachusetts teenagers have been charged in the "unrelenting" bullying of a 15-year-old girl who killed herself in January, prosecutors said today. Two of them were charged with statutory rape. Phoebe Prince, a recent Irish immigrant, hanged herself Jan. 14 after nearly three months of routine torment by students at South Hadley High School, via text message, and through the social networking site, Facebook.
My opinion on this subject that its crazy and people like men don't know how to treat women. On Facebook there are about 300 million people using it.
i have had personal in counters with cyberbullying and cyberstalking. In the past week or two there have been 20 phone call at my house and me and my sisters cell phones with people playing on the phone asking for me then they tell me that they don't like me or they found something about me that doesn't have anything to do with me. Then they put my friends into the mix. I believe I have a stalker on my hands but don't know how to handle it. The reason why i telling you this is because so many people kill themselves because they feel that were humiliated so they take out the pain they have the hard way. There are an estimated 10 to 20 million non-fatal attempted suicides every year worldwide.
