| Adoption My Angle: What teens feel when they are adopted? How does the thought of adoption feel? What is the meaning of Adoption? Adoption is a process whereby a person assumes the parenting for another who is not kind and, in so doing, permanently transfers all rights and responsibilities from the original parent or parents. Unlike guardianship or other systems designed for the care of the young, adoption is intended to effect a permanent change in status and as such requires societal recognition, either through legal or religious sanction. According to TeenBreaks.com a young girl talks about being adopted below is a little preview of her story. I was put up for adoption when I was 6 months old. When I was 4 years old my adopted mom told me that I was adopted, but I didn’t understand it. Now I am 14, and I know the whole story. My biological mother was 15 when she had me, and was 14 when she had my older brother. She knew it would be too hard to take care of a one-year-old and a newborn, so she put me up for adoption. The people who adopted me are actually my aunt and uncle, but I always call them mom and dad because they have raised me since I was 6 months old. So since my aunt and uncle/mom and dad raised me, I have always known my real mom as my cousin. I now spend almost every weekend with my real mom, but I know nothing of my real dad. He kind of doesn’t exist. -- Justine In my own adoption story, On November 17, 2006 I was 11 years old at the time I was adopted by a woman who i have been living with for 11 years since I was 7 or 8 years old. My mother Danielle Feigel lived with my father who abused both of us. My mother lost custody of me and 3 younger sisters because of him I was so upset with her I didn't want to talk to her because of it. Then when I turned 15 my mother and I began to get closer than anything. On October 17, 2010 she passed away now I can't see her anymore to have the long talks we used to have about school, relationships, and more. i miss my mom so much she will never be forgotten My sources of information on adoptions are WWW.google.com, WWW.TeenBreaks.com and WWW.Wikipedia.com. My own experiences with adoption are also included in this article. | ||
